Maria Colom

Maria Colom graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts, Painting from City & Guilds of London Art School in 2008, having previously completed a LLB (Hons) in Law from Salamanca University in 2003. Since graduating, she has exhibited extensively both in the UK and Spain, her place of birth. Her work offers a psychological experience to the viewer. Recently, she has developed an extensive body of work exploring Spectators scenes. She investigates how the feeling of the collective can be felt by the viewer. Through form and colour she causes the viewer feelings such as joy, adulation, rejection, isolation... She aims to give a double tribute to the power of emotions. The emotions are portrayed within the paintings, and also they become live in the viewer as they respond to the work, as the viewer experiences the work staring back at them. Her work is owned by various collectors including the Spanish National Rugby Foundation (Barcelona).
