Clive Oakley

Clive typically looks at cubes as a way of symbolising the confines within which the human race has tended to develop, be it emotionally, architecturally or any other way. Prior to this, the female form endeared itself to him artistically in the tradition of such artists as Matisse and Picasso. Working within the abstract as he has always done, he enjoyed exploring the dichotomy between the soft form of the female body and the severe, yet invitingly tactile, use of steel. Future projects include how to combine these two strands of work, incorporating the sexuality of the female body into the rigidity of the masculine cubic shape.
