Introducing Melanie Blackwell
We’re very pleased to introduce Melanie Blackwell to you. Blackwell paints portraits, almost exclusively in oils on large, linen stretched canvases. Using a plethora of drawing techniques, including countless life drawing sittings, Blackwell has improved her painting and enhanced her technical eye. As with her canvases, scaling images and building stretches are all done by hand and with self perception. Blackwell graduated from Central St Martins in June 2008, and since then has been involved in various exhibitions in London, including The Red Gate Gallery in Brixton, and The Willisden Green Gallery in North London. Her series ‘Boys’ was executed under sponsorship from T.G.I Fridays.
